I beg to differ on this one. If you live anywhere that it snows and they put sand
on the road (as many quattro owners do), you'll quickly see the merits of the bra.
The previous owner of my 90Q eventually did get a bra for the car, but not before
the frontal area of the car became riddled with literally hundreds of chips in the
paint. Until I see fit to have the hood repainted, the bra does a nice job at
covering the blemishes, improving the look, and preventing further damage. The
underside of a good bra is also designed to minimize or eliminate any potential
damage from dirt/moisture that gets underneath. So, if you're getting a bra just to
try and be stylish then, yes, I agree it's dumb. However, there certainly are
situations where it's a good idea. And if the look really does rub you the wrong
way, there are always the clear adhesive laminate "bras" that give you some
protection while letting the regular color show through (but then you're really
committed to that). I guess the best advice here is if you don't like them, don't
put one on your car.
