Except when the seal fails and the connector begins to fill with 
coolant.  That sometimes is what you find when you disconnect it.

I'm not familiar with the connector on the 80's, but I just replaced the 
reservoir in a V8 because the overflow hose nipple cracked and leaked, and 
getting that connector off was much worse than I remember when I replaced 
the reservoir in one of our 4kq's because it had the leaking sensor seal 
syndrome.
