The problem hose is commonly called the "F" hose due to its shape.
On newer production S4s there is no longer such a hose.

Same goes with the 1.8T engines, but many people are also running with
the stock bypass valves with no problems... If this car is just going to
be a grocery getter with the occasional spirited drive I would not worry
too much about it.

These cars do have an afterrun system, but its activation threshold is
apparently much higher. I have never heard mine run, but others on the
BiturboS4 mailing list have.
