86 URQ digi dash odo not working

... the same sender is used for speed and distance measurement ... it sounds
to me as though there is a problem inside the digidash.  I know that this is
a common problem on the analog gauges ... I guess I wasn't expecting to see
it in a digital one too!  Perhaps there is still some mechanism with a
stepper motor and gears to indicate mileage somehow.  

I was looking at the unit from an US CGT ... which is a different animal I
believe ... but in any event, it did appear that it should be possible to
remove the rear cover without much difficulty.  Once inside you could look
for a mechanical odo ... and then hit all of the internal connectors with
Stabilant or DeoxIt.  Bad connections are a large cause of problems inside
the V8's IC, and I have had good luck with disassembly and contact
enhancement ...
