I got the cat out without much problem and noticed that there was a metal band around the flange of the downpipe that connects to the cat. It turns out that the band is a big hose clamp that apparently was holding the flange together. It is in two pieces (actually three because one broke) or "slices" would be a better description. The flange is pretty rough but I suppose as long as everything is lined up properly, it could be re-used. Who else out there has BTDT with this operation? Suggestions/advice is greatly appreciated as usual.

replacement two piece flanges are avail. at import parts shops (I know
Atlantic stocks them).

they bolt together from the side and form the piece you need. A lot
easier than swapping the downpipe!
