I just repaired this seal on my car, if it is anything
like mine, pay somebody to do it! The job looked easy
enough, just drop the exhaust, undo one bolt that
holds the linkage together, pull the seal out, and
re-assemble, right? Ha! I would rather do another
engine swap than try and get that seal out again.
There is no room to get any leverage, and it is so
small that many seal pulling tools and picks don't
work well. Not to mention the grease from the tranny
and my CV boot that failed last year. I ended up
absolutly destroying the seal, luckily I was able to
keep the sealing surfaced scratch free. The seal was
$2.50 at the dealer. With the right tools and a lift,
it may only be a 1 hr job, on a type 89 car. The B4
may be different.
Later,
