I thought tire rotation on quattro's were not required or at least not
too critical?

Subject: Tire rotation - vibration
For what it worth - when the tires are rotated, get the tires balanced.
This re-balancing will help get rid of vibration. The tires will have
worn
in a certain pattern, due to whatever alignment was set for the
wheel-axle
that the particular tire came off from. When the tire is placed in
another
wear position, by being placed on another wheel-axle position, then a
new
wear pattern will start. Since the tire will be worn, the old wear
pattern
will cause a vibration, which can only be compensated by balancing the
tire. After balancing the tires, then get an alignment check done as
soon
as possible.
