I for the most part agree with that as well. I'll never forget this example
I saw in Framingham, MA back in the late 80's.
An early 80s Toyota (supra i think) with the Audi 4 rings on the grill. A
NASCAR style window net! (as if this car could go fast enough to even need
it) It also had the fake plastic hub cabs that KMart used to sell, you know
the ones, they imitate a chromed wheel.
Another thing that I personally always hated while I was living out in Cal,
was the people that buy a cheap POS like a used Escort and put a lowering
kit on it and 12" wheels that are nearly wider than they are all! I just
dont understand it!! Its not like an Escort USED to be an expensive car
like the type 44 and then lost its value, its basic economical transport.
You take a old used Audi/BWM/Merc/SAAB/Alfa and dump some money it, you can
have a restorted true sports car or sedan. You take an Escort or Geo and
dump cash in it, you have a bottom end car with alot of money spent on
accessories.
Anyways enough ranting on this :)
I just thought it was kind of ironic how we talk about ricing and some of us
have something that could be considered rice on our own rides :P
Rob
86 5ktq (will be slightly riced)
89 200tqa (No rice here!)

My definition of "rice":
Modifications that have no performance enhancing aspect at all and
are of questionable taste.
My window tint and the aluminum shift knob in my car could be considered
"rice" by that definition, esp. when the aluminum contrasts with the
nice wood trim in the car.
Yes, I consider the Treser body kit to be in poor taste, as most of
Koenig's monstrosities and Gemballa's. The '80s AMG stuff, on the other
hand, looks very nice and understated.
