what to use to lub sunroof?

I used White Lithium grease (that promptly turned black) because that was
the "cleanest" looking stuff I had around.
I presume the silicone grease would look like thick Vaseline, so might
appear cleaner. I'd wonder about the possibility of silicone attacking
the plastic bits. Anyone know if it would be detrimental?
