Hi,
Some months back I asked listers to comment on my
intention to lower my 85' UK spec 200 quattro by 35mm
and replace the wheels with 17 x 7.5inch. Most said a
type 44 would not accept such a set-up, however, three
weeks ago it was completed with no problems.
This is what I used. Koni Sport adjustables (set at
70%). Jamex Sportline 35mm lowering springs. RS2
style RCup 17 x7.5inch ET 35 off-set wheels. Super Pro
bushes were used on the front anti-roll bar, and so
far there is no rubbing of tyres (front or rear) on
the bodywork. Tyres are 215-40, and yes, the ride is
firmer than before.
Geometry has been set closer to 1992 S4 settings,
i.e.: Front camber -1.5; Front toe 0.9; Rear camber
-1.5; rear toe 0.3 (total 0.6). As a result, thrust is
still at 0.0.
With this new set-up, my 200 quattro feels fantastic
at speed. On long sweepers it will just hang on, with
much less roll than before. The only changes I will
make in the future will be to replace the Toyo Proxes
FZ4's with Pirelli P7000's and increase the front
Koni's to 90%. Other wise the car could not be better.
Regards, Basil Audeau.
