Yes, we were, but it we were drinkin' milk. Some of us were drinking
cow's milk, others were drinking Mother's Milk [1].
Window Switches:
It was a productive dinner for me. I asked who knew electrics,
and Andrew volunteered that he did. When I asked about the
wiring for my window switch, he said, "Oh, you mean *Bentley*
electrics."
Marc Swanson said, "Well, if we had a multmeter..." and I
said, ""It's in the driver's door pocket." We tested the switch
itself, which checked out OK. Andrew put the switch back
on the connector to try it, and the window went down but not
back up. And it was drizzling. Some more testing of the
connector showed we were getting power (which I knew). Out
came someone's Bentley to trace the wires. "If only we had
jumper wires..." I reached into the glove box for them. We
jumpered one of the motor wires to ground, then jumpered the
other wire to power. Up went the window. So we concluded
that the ground wire is broken.
Everyone kept blaming the wires in the door jamb, but I
swore I'd checked them all and they all seemed solid. Then
someone said, "The groud wire passes over to the driver's
door." So we figured the break must be on the driver's side.
Then someone said, "Why not just run a new ground inside
the door?"
My short term solution will be to ground the switch inside
the door. Long term will be to dig out the driver's door jamb
wiring to hunt down the source of the real problem.
Full write up to follow.
Oh, and it was nice to seem some familiar faces and some
faces new to the fold. We all agreed that it would be best
to do this on a Sunday after noon, between 2 and 5, when
there would be no wait for a table, and we would have
daylight to view the cars. Plus a sunny day would be most
welcome. 0 for 2 for sun at John Harvard's.

[1] Irish Stout. Not Guiness, but it was very good just the
same. I, er, I mean, some of us wouldn't have stopped, but
we had to go out to the parking lot to ogle the Audis.
