Final drive leaking oil onto cats

The '98 A6 I am hoping to buy has an oil leak onto the cats. It is coming
from the very rear of the transmission. Anyone else seen this on their V6 ?
It does not look too difficult to replace the seal once you can get to it,
anyone else BTDT.
