driving fast (what's the fastest you've gone in a car)

At one of my past jobs at a VW/Audi tuner, we took in a customer's brand new
TT Roadster and worked on it for 3 months, installed a prototype turbo
upgrade, coil over suspension, etc-  After which we delivered it to him in
LA.  We ended up leaving late, so we had to make up time, we made it to LAX
from San Jose in a little over 3 hours, very crazy, I basically put up all my
"speeding ticket luck" and went for it  =)  Held 160mph for minutes at a
time, but traffic comes up really fast at those speeds, and people have no
idea you are coming.

In my 80tq I've made the blast up to redline in 5th a few times, the speedo
only goes to 130, and the needle swings 5 or 10 minutes past that until its
almost pointing straight down, I'd estimate about 140 max, I'd love to get
some longer gears in there, anyone have an UrS4 tranny for sale?

The fastest I've ever accelerated was in a 2000 Nascar at Thunderhill, I got
4 laps in one, and coming onto the front strait, the acceleration was so
violent, I was giggling like a little kid, tears running down my face (no,
there was no wind, we're talking emotion here), unbelievable, a litteral
explosion between 4k and 7k rpm, all the way to about 8.5k or so.  Car didn't
handle or brake too well, but the acceleration, man!

Thing about going really fast, I hate going to jail, never been there, don't
really plan on it, nowhere in CA is very safe, cops everywhere.
