So, more on the TT. I got it from a friend that just got back from Japan.
It's a DigiQ Audi Tt. It's reaaaaly small. It has a pistol-grip controller
with an integrated charging stand. Click the TT into the pistol
controller, wait a couple minutes, and she's charged for 15 minutes of
play time. The unique thing is it's IR controlled, not RF. This means you
need to have near line-of-sight for it to work, but in practice, getting
too far away from something that small doesn't really happen.
It's fast, too. About walking pace on low carpet if not faster. Much
faster on slick tile. It's fun. Enough power to do SQ-style in-place
burnouts. Also unique is that the front wheels do not turn... instead the
turning is accomplished through the rear wheels altering speeds, tank
style.
In another vein, I also got a BigCharG model of a new Subaru Imprezza WRX.
It's a little bigger, and the front wheels turn and the car is driven by
the rear wheels. It is RF, and includes a more standard double pole
controller.
The TT was $32 and the WRX was $16. Both included everything (except
batteries) necessary to get playing immediately (BitCharG required 5
minutes of assembly).
VERY fun. DigiQ is superior, but more expensive. Fun fun fun. Will bring
to next gathering in the PacNW (if I ever hear about it).
