Oops - this should read "passing-on-the-right."

5) Many roads over in Portugal (including the IP5 I mentioned) are 3
lanes - with middle lanes used for passing by either side
alternately.  Be careful: locals will drive fast and infringe on
*your* passing zone.

BTW, IP5 is a beautiful (if the highest death-rate) highway.  Stop by
Viseu if you have time.
