replace oil check valves?

I've got the intake manifold off of my '95 90Q and was wondering if, before I put it
back on, I should replace the oil check valves which are located under the vally pan
cover. I remember seeing a few posts on these valves and from what I understand
they serve to prevent all the oil from draining out of the head when the engine is
shut off. I do have some lifter noise, but I wouldn't call it excessive or abnormal
and it doesn't seem to be worsening. This would be strictly a preventive move. Are
these valves very prone to failure? Are they expensive? Unless I get a compelling
reason to change them and/or the cost and difficulty associated are very low, I will
probably just leave things as is. Please advise. Thanks,
Joel
