Grrr...Ok, no one, not even Bob Hoffman, repsected audi wrench, can figgur
this out:
Cold start, usually fires up great, then can't hold idle, often dies. If I
flutter throttle to keep it from dying, idle pulses up and down. After
60-120 sec. or so, idles and runs perfectly. Warm starts fine, idles fine,
1.4 bar, etc.; basically car runs great except for above annoyance.
*new plugs, wires, cap & rotor, o2 sensor
*ground to cold start valve and ecu good
*new isv, ready to test yet another new one (but idles ok after 1 min., so
I'm thinking isv is fine)
*Bob checked idle & mixture, he says thumbs up
My ideas:
*ecu and/or intake air temp sensor(s) need replacing
*warm up regulator needs rebuilding
*cold start valve needs replacing
*1 or more flaky injectors/seals
Also, car seemed to exibit this on 89 oct. Chevron gas. On 87 oct. it
exhibits this problem less. Hmmm, I'm gonna run tanks of different octanes
(same brand, same station) just to experiment. What is the recommended oct
for this car? Anyway, anyone care to comment? Other ideas, things to check?
t.i.a.
p.s. I need a good audi or h2o vw/CIS-knowledgable shop in Santa Monica.
Anyone know of any?
