A4,

It is not cheap. I suggest you go to www.specialstage.com[1] and post your
question there. There are a lot of more experienced people that can help you.

However, I can give you an idea.

It all depends on the level you want to go. I have a target of 4 Club Rallies
and 4 RallyX a year.

Not counting the car(which can run from as little as $2.5k to $40k), you have
to budget:

1. Entry Fee ($250-300/event, pro event are way more expensive now)

2. Tires ($250-500/ 4 events, the best go-fast investment in rally)

3. Towing of your car (rent trailer, rent truck $70-100/day X 3-4 days)

4. Gas for the car($) and the tow vehicle($$$)

5. Hotel, food for you and potential crew

6. Spare parts for the car during and after the event (yes, rally = broken
parts = $$$)

I budget $850/event.

If you go to a pro level, then the price tag rises exponentially, like tires
at each service, $4k suspensions, huge spares list, etc.

I hope this gives you a view of this very expensive sport.

Oh! I forgot to tell you that once you cross the line, there is no coming
back. You will be hooked for life.

Cheers,

Carlos.

any pointers would be appreciated.

would also be looking at getting some kind of old quattro beater and fixing it
up a bit.
