no power

I'd probably suspect throttle switch failure as one possibility. It may not
be working correctly when you put the pedal to the floor and demand
wide-open throttle..... Especially true if it is the original throttle
switch. They have a reputation for failure of the internal solder joints.
I'd also check the wires that come into the distributor, to see that they
haven't been mal-positioned at the actual entry point to the dizzy. You say
you replaced the cap and rotor, and a mal-positioning could have taken
place at that time. I'd also check to see if any of the ignition wires are
partially pulled out of their snug fit into the cap or even the main high
voltage wire from the coil module. Also, examine the cap ends of each
ignition wire, and see if they are green/corroded/burned or loose. At one
time or other, each of these things have made my car run as you describe.
In closing, I will mention that I did not see any reference to checking the
air filter for dirt, water, or other possible materials that might obstruct
or limit it's ability to deliver adequate air. In fact, I would think that
the entire air induction system including the intercooler deserves to be
inspected for obstructions and leaks. Others have addressed the Michelin
Man hose.
