Phil, Scott etc.

Hello list,

It's been a long time since I last posted to the list, because of personal
issues I'm no longer able to devote as much time to this great list as I
used to. I still monitor it, though, and the recent situation is tempting
me to speak out.

Members of this list are real people, not robots which sole purpose in life
is to ask and answer Audi-related technical questions. Real people have
emotions and IMHO they have the right to occasionally express them as long
as they can behave themselves. That's what makes this list such a great
place. Apart from providing valuable technical advice, any time I browse
through the messages, I *know* that I'm dealing with real people here, not
a computer expert system. Though I stare at the computer screen and can't
see the faces of people I'm talking to, it still feels like going to the
pub and meeting old friends.
C'mon, guys and gals, be a little bit more understanding when it comes to
other people's weaknesses. Scott and Phil may have difficult personalities,
but their knowledge and readiness to help others more than compensate for
it. What exactly wrong have they done? So Scott jumped on Phil (as usual)
and Phil got PO'd (as usual). Big deal. No foul language was used and no
physical threats were made. They have generated a number of off-topic
posts. Everyday I have to delete a lot of posts about late model Audis
(which I don't own and can't afford), junkyards in California, mechanics in
UK, q-list meetings in Boston and many, many other topics which are of no
interest to me. The tiny flame war (those who think it was serious probably
haven't been subscribed to any other lists) between Scott and Phil didn't
do any harm to me, again, it only reminded me I'm dealing with real people
who treat this list seriously enough to express their emotional, personal
side here.

Take care
