My clutch finally decided to die on me but before it did, some strange things happend....After coming to a complete stop at a red light, the clutch appeared to be spent. In first gear, step on gas, nothing happens..But then the clutch appears to have a little life left as the car leaped forward as if nothing was wrong. I then reached for second gear.....couldn't move out of first. I tried again and with a lot of force, I ripped it into second. But now the smell of burnt clutch starts to fill my car and the RPM's shoot up but the car is slowly coming to a hault. I've got my eye on the oil and coolant guages and both are way above normal. I turn off the car and open the hood to check the brake fluid resevoir and it's full. So I'm about a block away from my house and really want the car to make it home. I was thinking that maybe I could recreate what had happend at the red light. Went to crank the car...won't start. Try it again...still won't start. I guess my question would be, did I damage something else in the process of my clutch dying? Or maybe it was the high engine/oil temp that prevented it from starting. I haven't gotten the car home yet and since it's had a day to cool down, I'll try it after work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
