sloppy shifter 90 200tq

  Listers,

  I posted a problem a little while back about my
shifter having allot of play or movement
in neutral and in gear a few listers posted that maybe
the sheer bolt that attatch's the selector shaft lever
to the tranny was loose but isn't
 I did notice allot of movement in the top of the
lever where there is what's described as a ball socket
and washer
the lever is pinched in 3 spots to hold in the ball
socket and washer but for the life of me I can't get
the lever to move I can get the adjustment rod off but
can't get the lever to move so I can replace the ball
socket
  can any lister give some advise on how to get it off
 I'm scared to put to much pressure and break
something there's really no room in there to get
something in there to un crimp the 3 spots on the
lever so I tried to pry it off but it didn't want to
move so I stopped I'll have to make an appointment if
no one gives me any BTDT or something close (that is
me begging)
