fuel pump death song

These can sing this song a long time. Mine started making undulations and
very loud before it quit.
Upon disassembly I found nearly everything inside bad. A few weeks before
it quit it was unable to put out enough volume at pressure and I lost WOT
above 4k. The final breakage was that the pump had worn enough to shear the
drive pins. The armature was running out of contact surface too. I knew
over a year in advance that it was bad but decided to see how long it would
last. Breakage was as expected in that it did not die in a bad spot, just
refused to start when leaving work. Because the pump still ran (electrical
portion) the diagnosis was simple because the pump now suddenly sounded
right. I have a car trailer and the vehicle was not taken further from
home than I wanted to tow it. It died ~2 mi from home.
