noisy fuel pump

Well it's interesting that when I filled up my tank from 1/3 to full
that the noise went back to normal. I drove in the heat today in the same
manner and same route, came home, left the car running, poked my head out,
and it was just as it was this winter, quiet. The old 80 had a very loud
pump all the time and it never died, loud for 3 years or so. Though now I
suspect my fueling issues when it was turbocharged were probably caused by
lack of pressure or lack of proper constant pressure, the CIS-Motronic ran
at 110psi which is the highest pressure run in the CIS family.
It sure sounds like my pump may go sour in the next few months. So I'll
order one up and try to find the time to get it some time soon. Preemptive
maintenance is something I'd like to get into, being stuck by the side of
the road with no phone and no parts in nowheresville at 2AM isn't my
favorite past time.
Cheers,
Alexander van Gerbig
