Idle speed too low

Thanks to all those who have replied to my inquiry, especially Mark Rice,
your idea about the timing being off was exactly right.  When I took the
distributor out to begin with, I brought the engine to tdc and marked the
position of the rotor with a paint marker on the side of the distributor
case.....I just realized the distrib. has two notches carved into it, I put
the motor to tdc and , lo and behold, i was off by a good quarter inch or
so......she's running like a dream now, the car has more power over the
entire rpm range
