Konstantin,
You don't have to take apart the shift rods unless
you're going to change the ball socket that slips onto
the metal ball on the shift lever
All I did to get the lever off was put car on ramps
engaged 1st gear took sheer bolt off from shift lever
10mm wrench will do it (from underneath)
popped off the shift rod and adjustment lever pry the
adjustment lever on the very end to make sure you
don't bend the adjuster real easy
I then pried the lever as far as I could got it to the
mid point of the metal ball then took a large
screwdriver and a hammer and banged it off the rest of
the way once thats freed you can use a smaller
screwdriver to wiggle the lever off the tranny there's
really no room but be persistent you'll find room to
maneuver the lever off and thats it you wont have to
take the shift rods off but if you do it's a PITA
you'll need a 13mm ratchet with a long extension and a
swivel there's a clamp rite before the heat shields
for the drive shaft and exhaust pipes loosen that
clamp and twist and pull there are grooves on the rod
so it fit in there nice and tight problly will take a
little bit to get free it's real messy down there from
years of road salt and other stuff New England go
figure, then the bar came out from the front of the
car the lever is pinched in 3 spots use a pair of
pliers and pull the pinches out again to get to the
washer and ball socket
if you're replacing that as well but I found that mine
was fine but I replaced it anyways
found out that I didn't have take out the shift rods
cause the lever itself was the culprit but like I
saied I all so replaced the ball socket and the washer
Hope this helps
Thanks
Ron
