Either the mechanic is trying to sc**w you or I need to relocate to US
_fast_ if this is the going labor rate over there.
To change the wheel bearing you need to remove the strut from the car (not
a terribly diffcult job) and then press out the old bearing and install new
one. For a professional mechanic, the whole job shouldn't take more than 2
hours. Does your mechanic charge $125 per hour?
Last time I needed this job done, I removed the strut myself and took it to
a machine shop to have the bearing replaced. They charged me $10.
East-European labor rate for you :-)
BTW, the replacement bearing should come with new axle and balljoint nuts
and new snap ring. If these are missing, you need to buy this parts, too.
Reusing them is a no-no.
