Repair expectations - help ?

Often, that still assumes that you will have the car repaired at
the same facility. The diagnostic rate is often a bit cheaper because
otherwise certain problems like electrical faults could become so
exorbitantly
expensive that no one would ever afford to get them fixed.

I cannot help but wonder why  most shops I have been into post a sign
which gives a rate for diagnostics. Usually the labor rate is listed
separately  . . .
