Ugh.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.  To me, the new BMW 7
is a disaster.  Where the previous generation was taut and sleek, the new
one is a fat whale.  It almost looks like an obese Nissan Maxima on the
flanks.  And those headlights, spaced so far apart have lost the "gleam
the eye" effect of bimmers of yore.  The compound curves of the headlight
covers around the corners looks ill-fitted.  And that rear-end, yikes.

Hmm. Just because it isn't fugly makes it "a step behind" the 7?  I don't
think so.  The new A8 looks even more lithe than the old, while losing
none of the "heft" and substance.  I think the new A8 is just right,
carrying the Audi family look to the next level.  Its styling doesn't
"shock" you, and I don't think it should.
