which way to face exhaust gaskets?

It IS confusing. About the Dana deal, I KNOW they
went on a worldwide shopping spree over the last few
years, much as Ford did. Loaded with cash and looking
for deals. I think much of it has been for the good
as they made some quality parts by small, obscure
manufacturers readily available worldwide. Often at a
reduced price. I think your gasket orientation will
be fine. Good luck.
