any electrical device could fail and its wiring should be protected by
an appropriate fuse in the circuit; for some strange reason a lot of
Audi radiator fan circuits do not pay attention to this little detail.

Worry more about the type 44, fusing the ground wire is covered in the
archives and probably a few people's web sites (I'd check Scott Mockry's
and Chris Miller's first)
