Hydraulic Leak

Losing Pentosin through hole in cap on fluid reservoir (P/N 443 422 391A).
Hole is there to permit movement for the plastic rod connected to the
styrofoam float.  I have an old brake master cylinder cap put on for the
moment while a new one is on order.  The local dealer had no luck entering
the above part number and is bringing in the one listed for the car.  Any
BTDT's on this kind of leak?  Is it common?  Maybe a seal is worn or is
there a restriction bumping up the fluid pressure and this is a weak link?
Also, the float  rod appears to trigger a switch on top of the cap to warn
of low fluid level--it's obviously disconnected now but I'm not getting any
warning lights on.
