Hairy green toads from Mars made Vic Norman say:

> Can some-one help me win (or lose) a bet?

Wrong.

The VR6 is a narrow angle V6 (15 degree) that was built for the
smaller VW engine bays. It shares little or no real technology
with the 2.8 V6 used by Audi.

Nowadays, both platforms use the same V6, the Audi one. The VR6
though I think is back in the Jetta.
