Audi V6 engine question

The VR6 has been in the VWs since 92 (in the USA anyway), and it was
available in the Golf, Jetta, and Passat with 172hp, and in the Corrado
178hp in the Us, 190hp in Europe. There is a 24v version that was first put
into the Eurovan, and then it made it's way into the Beetle cup cars. I hear
that it is good for 200hp. I also hear that the 24v engine is destined for
the Golf and Jetta cars, if not already available in them.

Wrong.

The VR6 is a narrow angle V6 (15 degree) that was built for the
smaller VW engine bays. It shares little or no real technology
with the 2.8 V6 used by Audi.

Nowadays, both platforms use the same V6, the Audi one. The VR6
though I think is back in the Jetta.
