Thanks! But please - call me Michael. My Dad is "Mr. Riebs" (although he is
now deceased, and I'm 37)

Amen! I had an SUV driving behind me a few weeks ago, sporting the big round
aftermarket fog/spotlights glaring in my Rv mirror. When we came to a stop
at the next light, she (thankfully) pulled up next to me, giving me the
opportunity to roll down my window -ask her to do the same, and then inform
her that she is driving with highly intrusive sharp lights, which are quite
blinding in my mirror - even *with* the night dimmer on.

I asked her to turn them off. She looked down at her dashboard, and said OK.
When we started from the light, she had done nothing! As you may recall
(from the rear fog light thread) I have wired my right fog light in to have
2 working fogs, and I took this opportunity to exercise my custom wiring
solution, but to no avail. They are not nearly as bright as the 8"
spotlights she was blinding me with.

There should be laws against stupid people operating lethal weapons (cars).
When is the US going to impose stricter driving tests. All of these "safety
rules" are to no avail, if drivers are unaware of them, due to the total
lack of stringency in the theoretical portion of driver's training, and
subsequent testing. A more vigorous requirement in passing the road test,
and the written (what a joke) test would IMHO be the single most important
step this country has ever made toward eliminating human roadkill, and other
less serious fender benders. The amount this would cost to implement would
be saved 10x over in the insurance industry!

Sorry for the lengthy gripe. You may be able to be observant, and notice
what's going on around you enough to "dim down" your illegal "driving
lights" substitute for the illegal "E-spec" lights, but for every one of
you, there are 20 others who don't even know they are using their high beam
in the middle of broad daylight. (sigh!)
