If we are talking about the output shaft from the rear of the box to the
rear axle, then this also fails on the 100/A6q

Mine was stinky. You could see where fluid was running around the cat but
hardly ever made it to become a drip. I have since noted that 90% with that
box have some degree of leakage.

Had to do mine at 60K. I did it myself, not sure I would recommend it to
anyone else though. I was quoted $250 from the dealer. I had lost half of
the fluid from the final drive, not sure if this drains the main gearbox or
not though.
