Fellow listers,

As I promised earlier this week, I'm going to report about the 20v urq my
neighbour and friend intended to buy.
The car has 144.000 kms and is supposedly in an original state...well;
yesterday we set off to Luxembourg (150 kms) to see and maybe buy the car.
The first thing my particularly well-trained eyes noticed was a trace of
"inflated" paint right between the upper portion of the rear bumper and the
lower part of the trunk lid...apparently it has been rear-ended somehow and
it was suppposed to be an accident-free car...oh well, let's go
further...the inner lower part of the trunk showed as well signs of rust
but it wasn't that bad...
Then, for the front end, the hood didn't seem to want to close all the
way...apparently it has had something in the front end as well, especially
in the hood latch part, which prevents the hood from closing completely..
Now for the chassis part, no bad ball joints or tie rod ends, good bearings
and bushings. The only black spot is a seized front caliper which makes it
tricky to drive at more than 50 mph :-) if you only touch the pedal, the RF
wheel will immediately lock up, no matter the surface...what could this be?
Dead caliper or simply seized guide pins?
And last, the bomb seems to be dead as I only had to pump the pedal twice
to have it hard as a rock...
Now the seller originally wanted 12900 Euros for an original and non
accidented car...my friend spoke the price down over the phone to 11500
Euros and as I was there to tell everything that was wrong with the car, we
reduced it yet to 10150 Euros...not bad for the first 20v urq I had ever
seen in my whole life, huh??? :-) the seller didn't know, nor notice this!
So we have a little work to make it a good car, the owner won't be using it
as a daily-driver (that'd be a pity!) so we have plenty of time and nothing
to be hurried about. We'll do the timing belt/WP/idler roller pretty soon,
then take care of the caliper and of the rusty part of the rear-end. Nice
car to work on during the sunny sundays!

Sorry for being that long, I thought I had to inform you all that my street
now has 2 type 85q coupes in it, one of which being a 20v (RR) urq!

Regards from Belgium,

Mihnea
