plus-zeroing vs. cost

Any thoughts...?

For the tire I'm looking at (Potenza SO3's), tirerack wants a 16% premium to
plus-zero my A4tqs (that's going from 205/55x16 to 225/50x16).  Has anyone
here done this, and was the handling 16% better?  If not, I think maybe I'll
just stick with the stock size.
