Here's another perspective. I bought my 1998 Passat GLS 1.8T new in late 1997. I have enjoyed every minute and the car has been flawless. But as you've seen in my signature, it's for sale. Why? because I bought a car I can really say I LOVE, a Coupe GT. Many other people (friends, family, etc) think I am crazy for selling a nice pretty new car for an Old semi-beat-up Audi. Why did I do this? Am I crazy? Nope! it's all about having the car you love. I'd wanted a 1987 Coupe GT Special Build since I was 15 years old, now I've got one! Could I afford to trade the Passat on a new A4? Yup, but I'd rather have the Coupe GT...even if it needs repairs once in a while with shocking prices...
