You know, that brings up a good idea- for those of you who can
plan well financially (I know I can't), maybe the way to ease the
pain of repairing an older car is to put a monthly "payment" into
a bank account, amazing how much money would accumulate after some
time.

ING Direct or one of the other relatively high-yield savings accounts
would be a good place for the money.
