Engine mount rebuild...with hockey pucks!?!

Hopefully that subject will turn someheads!

Alright, car is a 1989 90quattro. Engine mounts need replacing...they're still
okay for daily driving..but we rally in the first weekend of march (TSD-
Drivex). On bigger hits the engine likes to move up and down quite a bit.

I friend of mine who rallies a golf suggested I take the engine mounts
off...remove the hydraulic part and replace with hockey pucks (drilled out in
the centre to accept the bolt). I was originally going to just go with new
stock ones, but...

I own an audi. Something else went wrong...and now I have a good car again,
with weak mounts and no $$.

The question is this: Is it possible? I haven't taken off the mount fully
yet, but it seems to me, from what I've undone, that the cast aluminum and the
hydraulic piece are all one unit. F/A suggests this is the case as well.

Anyone know for sure? Am I going to have to do a serious hack job for
this...or will it be fairly easy to seperate the hydro-mount from teh cast
aluminum housing??
