Fuel Distributor Differences between CIS-E('85-87 4kq 5 cyl KX) & CIS-EIII(post '87 5cyl NG)

The JT (4kq motor) and the NG show different part numbers for the
air flow sensor plate and fuel metering valve (fuel distributor).
My advice is to use matched air sensor and metering unit. Many of
the air sensors have slightly different shapes and the metering
rod in the "fuel distributor" is matched to that shape. That
said, I've often replaced 60 mm air sensors with 80 mm units on
8v VW motors using a mis-matched metering head. Did it run OK?
Well ....yes, but even with seat of pants you could tell not all
was as smooth as it should be. Keep the JT system intact if you
can't find an NG air sensor.
