Avon ZZ1 tires (sorry, tyres)

I saw an A4 this morning that had a set of Avon ZZ1 tires mounted up in
the oem 16" size. The car was up on a lift, so I got a very close look
at them and they appear to be impressive tires. That's a visual opinion
only.

The tires had an aggressive, unidirectional tread pattern, and a
sidewall which incorporated a rim protector. I've never seen a sidewall
like this before and it's value was instantly apparent.

Does anyone have any real world experience with these tires? I'm
interested in their noise, wear, and performance characteristics. I'll
be buying new tires in the late Spring, early summer, and my current
choice is a set of Kumho Supra 712's. I found these Avon's interesting.
