e-brake question

I'd try to drive the lever back into place with a "tap-it-gently"
(hammer). The rod mentioned as possibly dislodged can't go anywhere that
I can figure out and presses against a spring-loaded feature into which the
opposite end from the one contacting the lever fits.
However, as someone else noted, squirting a solvent/lubricant into the
space where the lever fits is likely to contaminate the lubricating paste
placed into the cavity when the caliper is assembled. Brake fluid is not
supposed to reach that cavity either. A proper "fix" is to strip out the
caliper, clean up the corroded parts, replace the rubber seal if it's not
intact and reassemble with the correct lubricant in place.
