radiator shrouds / plastic

ive read and been told by  mechanics re; several different cars [honda,
volvo, toyota, audi,]  that these peices are much more important that one
might assume. they not only protect the radiator, but help direct air thru
it [most importantly] as air will tend to follow the path of least
resistance.  its often come up if i had done some work to a car, usually a
freinds, and had a piece off, then the car went to a mechanic [says
something abotu MY mechanical ability =] they would ALWAYS let me know i
should find/get/reinstall one.

i would definately get new ones and put em in place.

btw, i usually do "half" tuneups for freinds. i do the easy replacement
stuff and let a mechanic do the more involved checks+adjustments. im not
THAT bad mechanicailly ;)
