insurance

Well, I was actually hoping that everyone would rush right over to the web
site and read the article.
The part that I was surprised to see was the report that it is possible to
get a "diminished value" settlement on a damaged car here in Maine.
This was news to me, although it has been a dozen years since I was in the
biz, and actually more than that...more nearly fifteen since I dealt with
private passenger automobile insurance.
The concept of "diminished value" for a vehicle is interesting to me as an
Audi owner. Certainly the value of either of my cars would be considerably
diminished in fact due to a collision, due to the complexity of the
vehicle's drive systems. Some states don't allow this, but Maine is one of
about a dozen or so that does.
I thought that the article was pretty clearly written. From my experience
it would be a good thing if more people would read and come to an
understanding of just what "insurance" means, and in fact, is. Too often it
seems, the only thing that people like to do is complain about how they have
been "screwed" by the insurance system. In my experience this was seldom
the case.
In fact, most people who were "screwed" by the system, were really screwed
by ignorant or corrupt agents, or as often as not, merely expecting someone
else, like the insuror, to make up for their own stupidity and
irresponsibility. Articles such as on the MSN web site this morning, are
informative and should be of value for most people who own automobiles to
read at least once in their lives.
