[urq] A6 vs URQ performance?

FWIW -- not on performance or feel, but just on the packaging of the two
chassis since I have one of each platform, and a wealth of baby-seat
experience in both.

I have an '83 Coupe GT (same shell as the ur-q, at least as far as doors and
access are concerned) and a '93 100CSQ (same shell as early A6).

While we DID use the '83 as the Family Truckster for a couple of years --
with three kids, one in a baby seat (in the middle!), for everything from
shopping to vacations -- I'd never go back. Oregon law as of Jan 1 requires
kids under 60 lb and 6 yrs to use a booster seat, so Charlie (5 yrs, 52 lb)
goes back in his for a time, and because in booster mode this seat uses the
car's own three-point harness, Mom or Dad regularly gets to reach over past
seat and boy and buckle him in. It's a pain in the lumbar region to put him
in the back of the GT, a simple matter in the '93.

But the hands-down, no-questions, easiest car to buckle Charlie into is the
'74 Alfa Spider. We've been taking advantage of the sunny weather to do our
errands in the Alfa, and boy is it nice not to have a roof when you have to
lean all the way over to clip the belt.

The obvious answer is ur-S4/S6. I'm just waiting for the economy to pick up
a bit more...

I'm with Steve on this one. The urq is a fine Classic GT, but hardly the
"practical" quattro, especially with a growing family (steve), baby seats
into a 2 door is no fun.
