I sent the following to a rally list I'm on...but I figured there's enough
rally enthusiasts/idea makers here that it would be good help for
tomorrow...Audi content is simply the fact that they're goin on my Audi...sorry
for the LAC/WOB depending on your opinion.

Okay, I need some rally list help.

I'm prepping the car for the last two YWRS rallies...and my lights
have finally arrived (supposedly...we'll see at work tomorrow). They
are the bolt-on hella style lights, not the stadium level pod lights
showing up on a few vehicles (ahem..Karl...Erik).

The bar will be made of Steel-tubing, because a) it's easy to work
with and b) I have the facilities available to me tomorrow.

Anyways, take a look at the front view of the car, here:

The options I can think of are as follows:

1) Cut two holes into the bumper, in the black strip, and weld two
mounts to the bumper re-bar. The bar will then slip fit over/into the
mounts and bolt up. Advantages: Lights are bumper level. Relatively
small bar, lights are close to the mounts. Disadvantages: Darn ugly
when the bar isn't on...and how would you like me to rear-end you
with the mounts sticking out?

2) Cut two holes in the lower black grill (between stock fog lights)
and mount the bar to the skid plate mount that is behind there. Bar
would then come out, and bend up to bumper/grill level. Imagine a
brush bar on a truck..and you'll get teh general idea. Advantages:
remove the bar and the car still looks okay. Disadvantages: The
lights are a far distance from teh bar mounts...have a wreck and I
can imagine it destroying everything from the skid plate mounts to
the hood...and everything inbetween.

I'm hoping you guys/gals might have some other ideas. I've got to
build the darn thing tomorrow...but I'll be checking my email
throughout the day at work...so if you have ANY ideas as to a better
idea, or which of the above options is best...let me know please.

See you all on friday...

-Dave
