Headlight Switch Gone

Well, I couldn't find a replacement combo-switch.
Wait, let me rephrase that...I couldn't find one that I could get before our
friday rally, for a price I'm willing (or able) to afford.
So...I have bypassed the stock headlight on-off switch, and used a normally
closed relay switched by the high-beam to shut off the low beams when the high
beams go on...only to discover that oops! it won't allow me to use the stock
high-beam switch.
So the plan now is to add a push-button switch to my steering wheel, sparco
style...that will activate the high-beams.
I'm going to add this AFTER the rally...I just happened to find a fix that I
think will work for the weekend...I've glued a piece of plastic in the switch
that holds it all 'just at the right spot' so the lights work using the stock
switch!
And, just in case murphy's law comes up..>i've bought all the parts to do the
steering wheel button in 30min or less...hmm, maybe I should just do it?
