WRX vs. 1.8TQ

To me the thing that is deceptive about the WRX (and the current Audi S4, for that matter) is the evenness of the power and the lack of 'spikes' in power. I remember the drive home after I traded my '98 1.8T in on a '00 S4... uneventful at first, but slowly you learn where the power is and how to use it. The same thing happened when the S4 was traded (read: totalled and replaced by) for the WRX. However, the reality is that the WRX (in theory) has a slight accelleration advantage over the S4, and then in turn of course a significant one over even a chipped A4 1.8T. If the discussion is over finish, style, versatility my choice is either Audi product. If the discussion is over pure performance/accomplishment, the WRX wins.
..all IMO.
